Chad Wood, Director of Bands
Mr. Wood is a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University and has been at Staley since 2002. In addition to numerous UIL Sweepstakes and first divisions at contests. Mr. Wood was honored to be named Staley's Teacher of the year in 2019 and a top five teacher of the year finalist for all of FISD. In addition to overseeing all aspects of the Staley Band Program, Mr. Wood teaches Symphonic Band, Beginning Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Low Brass (euphonium & tuba) and assists with Concert and Honor Band. Mr. Wood has also served on countless committees for for FISD including being a curriculum writers for the district. A native of Haysville, Kansas, Mr. Wood enjoys KU Basketball as well as rooting for the Mavericks, Cowboys, and Rangers. When not teaching, Mr. Wood performs regularly on trombone with various jazz ensembles, full orchestras, brass groups, and cover bands. As a performer he has been fortunate to perform all across the globe including tours in London and Spain. Mr. Wood lives in Frisco with his wife Lesley, their daughters Emily (7th grade flute player at SMS), Harper (4th grade at Rogers), and their dog Ranger. Email: woodc@friscoisd.org |
Andi Webb, Assistant Director
Mrs. Webb attended the University of Central Oklahoma and Southern Nazarene University with a major in instrument music education. During her undergraduate studies, she performed with the wind symphony, symphony orchestra, woodwind quintet, was selected for the President's Concert, and was a two time member of the Intercollegiate Honor Band. SInce moving to Texas she has been the assistant band director at Legacy Christian Academy in Frisco, TX where she helped start the marching program, assisted with the High School marching and concert bands, directed the Middle School bands, taught woodwind classes, and earned superior ratings at TPSMEA concert and sight reading contests. She has also been teaching private clarinet lessons for approximately 20 years. She currently performs with the Stonebriar Orchestra and Stonebriar Woodwind Quintet. |
Stephen Seymour, Director of Percussion Stephen Seymour has been the Director of Percussion for Memorial High School since its opening in 2018. He graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Tarleton State University in 2013, and his Master’s Degree in Music Performance from Baylor University in 2015. Mr. Seymour taught in Frisco for 2 years prior to opening Memorial High School with the Independence High School Cluster. Before that, he was the Director of Percussion for Clear Creek High School in League City, TX where he ran all percussion activities and taught the AP Music Theory course. While at Baylor University, he served as the Teaching Assistant for the Drum Line. Mr. Seymour also served as the Drum Line Coordinator for the 2017 and 2018 football seasons. Mr. Seymour believes that to be a great educator, one must not only love what they do, but continue to pursue what made them interested in teaching in the first place. He actively performs and records with his quartet, Lagan Percussion. Lagan Percussion has commissioned new works for percussion from the likes of Ivan Trevino and has been on consortium with Alejandro Viñao. Mr. Seymour is glad to do his part, with his quartet mates, to keep percussion music alive and continue to push the bounds of what music can be. He is also an alumnus of both the Sō Percussion Summer Institute (2013) held at Princeton University, and the Chosen Vale International Percussion Seminar (2014) held in Enfield, NH. Through these opportunities, he was able to work with performer and educator Michael Burritt, composers John Luther Adams and Steve Reich, and Matthew Duvall from Eighth Blackbird, among others. Mr. Seymour often finds himself performing with groups in his vicinity. He has played for the Lone Star Winds Percussion Ensemble, Pasadena Philharmonic Orchestra, Frame Dance Productions in Houston, Waco Symphony Orchestra, and the Texas All-State Treble Choir. He is also sought after as a clinician and adjudicator, having judged Marching Band Festivals and Solo & Ensemble Contests across Texas. Mr. Seymour is an active member of the Texas Music Educators’ Association, the Percussive Arts Society, and is a Vic Firth Company Artist and Educator. |
Phillip Martinez, Percussion Assistant
Phillip Martinez is a percussionist, arranger, and musical consultant whose roots began in a small rural town, Jourdanton Tx. After receiving several accolades for his musical talents, Mr. Martinez decided to pursue a Minor in Music at the University of North Texas while studying English. There, he worked with and learned from many great percussionists, including Ellis Hampton, Jeremy Noyes, Omar Carmenates, Mike Hodges, John Brennan, and Paul Rennick. While in college, Mr. Martinez propelled his musical aspirations in drum corps. He marched for 4 years and ended his marching career with the Phantom Regiment in 2008, which won the World Championship and Fred Sandford High Percussion Award. Since aging out, Mr. Martinez has been on the educational staff of several DCI Ensembles, including The Blue Knights, the Boston Crusaders, and most recently the Phantom Regiment. Mr. Martinez has worked with the likes of Ellis Hampton, Daniel Allen, Dan Darrah, and Ralph Hardimon. Mr. Martinez is also currently the newest addition to percussion staff at Colleyville Heritage. He is humbled to be a part of the Vigilantes Indoor Percussion staff for a second year, and anticipates an exciting season in 2018. |
